Preparing for Exams

Here is how to prepare for the examinations in this course:

Visit the Myers textbook Website at http://www.worthpublishers.com/exploring5e

Just below the “Select a Chapter:” window is the “Select a Category:” menu.

Click on “Quizzes”, which is the top category on the right side of this menu.

The next page has the heading “Quizzes” above the “Select a Chapter:” window.

Click on the chapter you wish to study by taking a multiple-choice quiz.  Each one is a “practice mini-exam” that does NOT count toward your course grade.

To prepare for Examination 1, take the quizzes for Chapters 12, 3, 5 and 9.

To prepare for Examination 2, take the quizzes for Chapters 7, 8, 10 and 11.

To prepare for Examination 3, take the quizzes for Chapters 13 and 15.

The multiple-choice items that will actually be on the Exams will be similar to the items in the Quizzes.

In order for you to get feedback on the quizzes, you must include your name and my NLU e-mail address: fwidlak@nl.edu.

After you submit the quiz for scoring, you will see a feedback sheet with the total score (number of items answered correctly), followed by an item-by-item review of your answers.  If you answered an item incorrectly, you will be directed to a specific page in the Myers textbook.  Since you don’t have the book, you need to look at the Lecture Notes and possibly the PowerPoint slides for that particular textbook chapter.

To prepare for the short-answer essay questions, click on the “PsychSim Modules” in the left margin of the Webpage.  On the next page, click on the link to go to the “Table of Contents for PsychSim 4.0.”  Then you will see a page with links to the modules and the relevant textbook chapter(s) noted.

Click on one of the chapters that will be on the Exam.  You will then see a module map with links to its topics.  Below the list of topics, you will see this sentence:  Click here to open the worksheet that accompanies this module.”   Click on the word “here” and you will then see the worksheet that has questions that require short essay answers (Usually one to three sentences).  Exam questions will come from some of the relevant modules, except that the module on Correlation Analysis will not be used.

You can access a PowerPoint slide show for each Myers textbook chapter by clicking the bottom left corner of the corresponding Lecture Notes page.
